College Development Program for Future Leaders

Business Management

Summary

The Hanover Insurance Group is seeking to attract, retain and develop the best and brightest college students and provide them with meaningful opportunities for personal and professional growth, a diverse culture of learning and a rewarding career path. With this in mind, we developed the Future Leaders Program.

The FLP – Business Management provides recent graduates the comprehensive training necessary to begin their careers as an:

  • Actuarial Analyst
  • Business Analyst
  • Financial Analyst
  • Operations Analyst
  • Pricing Analyst
  • Process Improvement Analyst
  • State Management Analyst
  • Staff Auditor

and develop into Sr. Analysts, Team Leaders and Managers. Participants will have the opportunity to broaden their technical, financial, analytical, project management, and leadership skills; establish a network of professional contacts; and gain cross functional experience. You will have the opportunity to add value to the company’s business through cross company Business Challenges and strategic projects. Participants will develop their skill sets and apply their knowledge in whichever line of business, including Personal Lines, Commercial Lines, Technology or Claims, that best suits their skill set and interest. Through the Future Leaders Program you will have exposure to the agency business, leadership training, strategic project work and more.

Description

  • Review and analyze profitability and performance of agent accounts with focus on retention improvements, new business and renewal opportunities; analyze results by agency and territory to identify opportunities for improvement
  • Recommend and implement improvements in systems, procedures, and work-flows to gain efficiencies and meet changing business needs
  • Analyze financial information to determine performance, identify trends and recommend process improvements
  • Develop and execute reports in areas such as budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, and statistical reporting by extracting data from a business application or information systems and validating results; make recommendations to management regarding cost saving or profit generation
  • Research competitive intelligence and perform multi-variant analysis on pricing of insurance products
  • Provide support on critical issues by researching and prioritizing problems
  • Prepare analysis on key projects as assigned, both individual projects, as well as collaborative group assignments
  • Work as a team or individually on cross functional Business Challenges and projects

Length

How long does it take to move up? That’s up to you! Over the course of two years, as you learn and are exposed to different aspects of our business, we’ll regularly review your progress to help develop your skills and abilities and we’ll provide you with continuous performance feedback. As you progress, we’ll work with you to determine additional opportunities for increased leadership responsibility in managerial roles. The opportunities and career tracks across all of our business lines are vast — and the knowledge and skills you acquire will be transferable to many business sectors.

Our employees begin the program with competitive base pay and are eligible for our general bonus program. As you advance in your career, you will be eligible for increases in base salary and you will also have the opportunity to reach financial performance based bonuses along the way.
