College Development Program for Future Leaders
Risk Management
Summary
The Hanover Insurance Group is seeking to attract, retain and develop the best and brightest college students and provide them with meaningful opportunities for personal and professional growth, a diverse culture of learning and a rewarding career path. With this in mind, we developed the Future Leaders Program.
The FLP – Risk Management provides recent graduates the comprehensive training necessary to begin their careers as an underwriter in our personal and commercial businesses and develop into leaders. Participants will have the opportunity to broaden their technical, project, and leadership skills; establish a network of professional contacts; and gain cross functional experience. You will have the opportunity to add value to the company’s business through cross company Business Challenges and strategic projects. Participants will develop their skill sets and apply their knowledge in whichever line of business, Personal Lines or Commercial Lines that best suits their skill set and interest. Through the Future Leaders Program you will have exposure to the business, leadership training, strategic project work and more.
An underwriter has one of the most important jobs in an insurance company. Underwriters accept or reject the risk of coverage, and once the application is accepted, they classify it to charge appropriate premiums for it. Underwriters also help meet the company’s sales objectives for new business and help retain existing business, ensuring an appropriate mix of customers. They regularly interact with branch office management and our agent partners.
